Speedmaster XL 105 - User Report: Hepack GmbH

The first Speedmaster XL 105 for printing packaging material was the six-color press with a coating unit put into operation by the company Hepack GmbH Druck und Verpackung in Neuenstein. This export-oriented company mainly produces packaging material for food and sweets with an average print volume of 30,000 sheets. Hepack operates with a complete packaging solution by Heidelberg, and with a Dymatrix 106.

Printshops that specialize on commercial jobs and packaging material are forced to keep reducing costs and increasing productivity to compensate for the stagnating prices, and to still meet the ever rising quality demands of their customers. That can only be done with state-of-the-art machinery - such as the Speedmaster XL 105. "After start-up, the press immediately reaches a speed of 18,000 sheets per hour and maintains a consistently excellent print quality. Even with thick stock, the sheets travel very reliably and smoothly. Furthermore, the larger sheet format of 75 x 105 centimeter is beneficial for many packaging forms. Nowadays, every tenth order requires the full available format," as Peter Heim, Manager of Hepack, sums up the advantages of the press.

Peter Heim considers the screen-roller magazine Multi Loader System another highlight of the press: it reduces the time needed for changing a screen roller drastically. Even here, roughly 50 percent less time is required, according to the packaging printshop. Peter Heim is pleased: "It was absolutely right to opt for the Speedmaster XL 105."
